Some more shots on Lanzarote. First thing almost every morning, as the sun came up, I headed down to the beach. It was when the ebach was emptiest which meant not only was there more wildlife around, but it was also safer to be walking around with a long lense. On this particular mornign I…
Here are some rockpool creature photos. Taken in my photographic aquarium, I caught these on Broadhaven beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales. First up is the shanny: At one point it demonstrated its ability to glup air. There was also a young wrasse, but I’m not sure what species. I also photographed a common rockpool find, a…
A quick photo from Pitsea landfill site, one of my favs from the evening there:

Back in May a wasp beetle was found and I got a few photos. It is a type of longhorn beetle that mimics a wasp to fool predators into thinking its dangerous. Also found was this common crab spider.
When at Goring back in the summer I came across this mayfly (presumably already dead) being eaten by a cream spot ladybird. They normally feed on aphids and psyllids but this one obviously fancied a bigger meal! More on the cream spot ladybird on the UK ladybird survey website
