Rabbit kit at Minsmere
A couple of weekends ago I visited a very wet Minsmere RSPB nature reserve in Suffolk. There was not much about but in the car park I photographed some rabbits, including a cute little kit. Another was grooming

On my visit to Kefalonia 2 years ago I spent a half day in the capital Argostoli. In the harbour there were a number of yellow legged gulls. Walking along the shore path I came across the first shrike I had ever seen, a woodchat shrike. The harbour is famous for the tame loggerhead turtle.…
A quick post with the other photos from Mounda beach. There was a large antlion, probably Palapares sp. And the smaller Euroleon sps. There was an individual of both the ringed plover species on the beach. Ringed plover Little ringed plover It was a beautiful sunny day. The balkan wall lizards were basking.
A couple of years ago I went to Kefalonia, staying in Skala at the south of the island. A decent walk away was Mounda beach near Katelios. This beach is one of the last breeding sites for loggerhead turtles on Kefalonia, a species that is under threat from expanding tourism. However there is a group…
The weekend before last I headed up to one of my favourite parts of my local patch, Bedfords Park. I didn’t take many photos but I did get my first speckled wood of the year. This was before all the recent rain and the bluebells were looking a bit flat. I did take a couple…

Back in November I went to Girgin Farm with some friends to photograph the kites. I also wanted some photos of the buzzards and I managed a few nice ones. I got some of one on the ground
Driving to Glen Shee, we passed plenty of red grouse and we stopped to photograph an number of those in photographic postions. I managed to get one making that fantastic call. A few were wandering around the ski resort car park. We also passed a golden plover, which I managed one ok photo of.
One of the species I wanted to see in Scotland was ptarmigan. These are a bird of mountain tops in the UK and it usually it would have involved walking through snow to get them in March, but the record warm weather meant there was little snow about so easier walking. Unfortunately it also meant…
Carrying on with my photos from Scotland, I took a number of small bird photos in Cairngorms. I got one good photo of a crested tit, which I had to crop quite heavily. The siskins stayed too far away as well. I got a couple of ok shots though. As always in Scotland, the were…
