While not a target species, with them not being 100% wild or native in the strictest sense, coming across the reindeer on the cairngorms was still pretty cool.
It was great to see them in an at least semi natural habitat.

I thought that they were supposed to have been hunted in Caithness/Sutherland by Jarls of Orkney in the 12thC?

They were found in the UK till 8000 years ago. Apparently there is no evidence for the species existing in medieval times, which is based on a 12th century Norse text.
By not wild and native I meant they went extinct and the current population is semi domesticated and introduced from Sweden, Norway and Russia.
In hindsight I probably should have put this in the post! Thanks for bringing it up 🙂
