I posted before on the badgers from springwatch, which I was fortunate enough to go photograph.
Phil even set up his suspended peanut butter sandwich technique so I could get some photos of the badgers without their nose to the ground.
Some people on the springwatch message boards were worried that the badgers would hurt themselves on the wire, so I thought I’d put to bed their fears. The wire used is the extremely bendy garden twine stuff and the badgers are more than tough enough to deal with anything that can do. After all their sett is dug into the ground which consists of a few centimetres of soil on top of metres of broken glass and pottery! As for making them reach up ‘unnaturally’ well badgers will reach and stand up to reach berries on bushes and other food off the ground, so nothing unnatural there.
Neil – just been flicking through your new? blog. I think your photographs these days are superb. I especially like the ox eye daisies and the flying hawker – the daisies need an artistic eye to produce an image like that and the dragon needs a great amount of skill.
Keep up the good stuff!

Great series of shots. That was one of the very few bits of Springwatch I saw. Great to see your photos using those techniques. They do make for interesting poses. Nice one!
Thought I left a message here the other day – never mind! Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your photos these days Neil. Was flicking through your nice new-look blog and seriously admiring your “very clean” shots – especially the ox-eye daisies (great image) and flying hawker (a great deal of skill involved there I’m sure). Keep up the great work! TBR
