I managed some nice photos of a young adder this morning.
It posed well, didn’t move, but as always with these snakes something wasn’t great, the light. It was a sunny morning but this snake was in the shade and I ahd to resort to flash. My flashgun batteries were dead so I had to use on board flash and hold the diffuser from the flash gun in front! They came out ok after sorting the white balance.
Just in case you are concerned these are all crops, some reasonably heavy, from a 100mm lens, I stuck to my rule of staying a minimum distance equal to that of the adders body length away, to make sure neither of us got hurt, and this individual was so cold it barely moved all the time I photographed it!
These are fantastic shots, thank you very much for sharing.
