The recent story on the spanish sparrow in hampshire reminded me that I ahd some photos of the species on my hard drive.
There were plenty in the towns in lanzarote where I took these photos.
These photos were taken from the patio of the apartment we were staying at.
They were often feeding on the seeds and flower of the climbing plant over the apartment patios.
The flock contained females:

Beautiful. I love these winter posts of Lanzarote. It brings back lovely holiday memories. The climbing plant is Bougainvilla. I never knew they had edible seeds!
