A few weeks ago a kingfisher pair were nesting in front of the Marshland discovery zone hide at RSPB Rainham. I had yet to get a photo of a kingfisher that didn’t have something seriously flawed about it so I headed to the hide to get some shots. There were a couple of issues though as the hide is not the traditional type and has a big sheet of glass instead of a the usual ‘windows’ and the glass inevitably softens the image. The reeds had also grown to nearly cover the kingfishers favourite perch, but I did manage my best ever shots of a kingfisher.
