I had a trip to the Rhayader area of Wales over the weekend. The first stop was Gilfach Farm where we waited for salmon to jump up the waterfall, but had no luck. I did photograph the water fall though:
Although we didn’t see them jumping, I did see 2 female salmon nest building, where they use their tails to wash gravel from the riverbed to form pits in to which they lay their eggs. I missed photographing that, but here is a female resting over her nest with a male waiting for her to finish next to her.
There was also a dipper pair but neither stopped for a photo!
