Last weekend I had a trip up to Norfolk, which included a visit to Strumpshaw Fen. I had heard that willow emeralds (Lestes viridis) were present and went to have a look. As I crossed thr railway I ran into Dick who runs Rare bird alert and was the person who reported them the previous weekend. He kindly showed me the spots he had seen them, with the first one giving me my first ever willow emerald. But it was the next view point which gave me my first half decent photos.
I had to use a high ISO (800) on the last 2 as it was cloudy when I took them.
But best of all I have now seen all 4 of emerald damselfly species that breed in the UK and got my 2nd new dragonfly species for the year.
More form Strumpshaw to come.
