Today at Wat Tyler CP there was a a bluethroat….and I missed it. I did however come across a turtle dove on a telegraph post. Which was joined by a wood pigeon. Our biggest Pigeon with our smallest. The turtle dove then flew down to the ground. I didn’t get too close and it was…

Essex, insect, odonataBy Neil-UKWildlifeJune 18, 2013Leave a comment

I started off today with a trip into town and had the rest of the morning to head to RSPB West Canvey Marshes. Or so I thought until I hit yet another standstill of traffic in Essex! I didn’t have time to get to Canvey, so I popped into a private reserve instead and found…

bird, Kent, pigeonBy Neil-UKWildlifeMay 11, 2013Leave a comment

While in Kent a wood pigeon kept coming down to the garden bird table. It seemed relatively tolerant so I crept in towards it for a close up…. …and got one! I managed a shot of it on the fence waiting to come down. And later flying around in the trees. I got another nice…

The bird I was after at Loch Garten was a crested tit. My friend Ian was kind enough to lend me his 7D and 600mm prime lens to help me out! (see his and Paulines excellent images here: Pauline and Ian’s Zenfolio). With his help I managed a few shots, including this one. As you…
