A quick shot from the Loch Garten feeders. I went all the way up to the Highlands of Scotland and photographed….a robin. It looked so nice in the sun I couldn’t resist pressing the shutter!

Mountain Hares

Cairngorm, Hare, mammal, ScotlandBy Neil-UKWildlifeApril 16, 2013Leave a comment

When up in a Cairngorms I hoped to see Mountain Hares. I managed a few shots, and this was probably the best shot. I was expecting shots more like this! I even had another one pose briefly by the road. It moved off and poked its head over the snow.

Fraser’s bridge on Clunie Water, Glen Clunie

Cairngorm, landscape, landscapes, ScotlandBy Neil-UKWildlifeApril 14, 2013Leave a comment

While driving through the Cairngorms we stopped at Fraser’s bridge on Clunie Water, Glen Clunie. I also got a shot…

Snow Bunting Plectrophenax nivali in the snow

bird, Cairngorm, ScotlandBy Neil-UKWildlifeApril 7, 2013Leave a comment

One stop while in the Cairngorms was Cairngorm Mountain. In the car park there you can often find snow buntings, which can be tempted down a bit closer with some seed. It was pretty snowy so I got shots of them on the rocky wall with some snow around.

One bird that frequented the feeders while in the Cairngorms was the coal tit. On my first day I got a number of photos using my 300mm.

I have loads of photos from my recent trip to Scotland, but barely started on the editing, so here is a coal tit at Loch Garten.

EJ the osprey at RSPB Loch Garten video

bird, BOP, Cairngorm, Scotland, videoBy Neil-UKWildlifeMarch 30, 2013Leave a comment

Anyone who has visited Loch Garten will know the nest is some way off from the centre, though cameras and telescopes provided do give good views. Its not so good if you want photos, so I got out the Pentax Q and shot some video of the EJ, the female osprey. This video has been…
