On Saturday morning I headed reasonably early to Elmley Marshes. The drive in was pretty quiet except for a few yellow wagtails until I reached an area with a field that had much shorter vegetation. Here were a number of hares, which wherereachable with my Pentax 300mm and 1.7x convertor combo. One decided to have a bit of a groom.
They didn’t move much but I grabbed a shot when one did.
While photographing the hares I kept hearing a call from the longer vegetation about 4m from the road. Eventually small gamebird popped its head up. Its was Quail! A first for me!
Shame about the blade of grass but still a good sighting so close, for me anyway.
I saw a few other things. This rabbit kit was sitting around on the walk to the RSPB reserve.
Not much in the reserve to be photographed other than this skipper.
On the way out there was hobby sat in the middle of the road and I spotted a buzzard with another BOP, which turned out to be a harris hawk! There is a fairly well known escapee in the area so I guess it was that one!
