Pied wagtail with Pentax DA*300mm and 1.4x Teleconvertor

bird, wat tyler cpBy Neil-UKWildlifeJune 18, 2015Leave a comment

Recently I have been using the new Pentax 1.4x Teleconvertor with my Pentax DA*300mm for a lot of shots. I was previous not fully convinced it was sharp enough, but a few weeks ago this pied wagtail perched up on a fence and I got away a few shots with the above combo. They were…

Slow motion video of wasps chewing wood and taking off

hymenoptera, insect, slow motion, videoBy Neil-UKWildlifeOctober 5, 20131 Comment

A little while ago I spotted a number of wasps chewing wood so I filmed them at 1/4th of normal speed using my Pentax WG-2. I filmed a number of clips and put the best bits together for this video In this video the first clip is at 1/4th normal speed, as is the second.…

Pied wagtail

bird, Essex, wat tyler cpBy Neil-UKWildlifeJanuary 16, 20132 Comments

Been playing with my Pentax Q today and managed this shot of a pied wagtail. It was over 10m away and this shot is about 2/3rds of its original size. The reach of this set-up is great, although it is a bit fiddly.

PhotographyBy Neil-UKWildlifeJanuary 8, 20132 Comments

A few months ago I heard that there were adapter for the Pentax Q that would let me mount it on my Pentax DA*300mm Prime. For those who don’t know the Pentax Q is one of the small interchangeable lens cameras that have recently been made by a number camera of manufacturers. The Pentax Q…

Playing with the Pentax WG-2 at a rather wet Rainham

Essex, RSPB RainhamBy Neil-UKWildlifeDecember 30, 20121 Comment

Since I bought my Pentax WG-2 waterproof camera I’ve barely used it. As a waterproof compact, it doesn’t match a DSLR for quality, but its ability to be submerged in water does offer some different opportunities. Today I went to RSPB Rainham where the constant rain has flooded large areas, so I thought I try…

Grey heron close ups and grey squirrel wide angles in Regents Park

bird, gull, heron, mammalBy Neil-UKWildlifeFebruary 17, 2012Leave a comment

When I visit London I always try and get to Regents Park. One of the main reasons is for the herons, which are very approachable. This time of year the are in breeding colours. There are last years juveniles around too. I quite liked this ‘different’ angle. And I got a ‘normal’ shot too. I…
