On Tuesday I visited one of my favourite sites, Crockford Stream. The site is amazing for dragonflies and damselflies, including golden ringed dragonflies.
The site is also a good one for the rare southern damselfly. It was good to see a few tandem pairs of these great little blue damselflies.
The keeled skimmers were in good numbers (as they were on nearly every iste I visited in the New Forest!)
In the afternoon I popped over to Hatchet pond to try and track down some scarce blue tailed damselflies. And I found this…
A ‘common’ blue tailed damel! Plenty of them too, but no scarce to be seen.
I got my first common darter of the year, first of many no doubt.
We couldn’t find the Scarce Blue-tails at Hatchets Pond but, a few days later, we managed to find three males at Latchmoor Brook.
